What is the longest road trip you’ve ever taken?
I have taken a few long road trips and I am not quite sure which one is the longest. After college I drove from WA to NM to take my new job. Did this all by myself, too! Made the round trip on that recently and thankfully I had my puppies and mommytaco to keep me company. When Adam went to CCC we had to drive him there because he wanted to do a DItY move and we drove from Texas to Kansas (to see family) and then on to Virginia.
Do you collect anything? Tell us a bit about it.
We have started collecting Buddha statues. The collection started with a big one I got at Target and we have added 2 from our temple trips to date. I used to collect Pez dispensers but stopped that when I grew up. :D
What is your favorite part about being an adult?
My favorite part of being an adult... that is a good question and by that I mean really hard to answer. It is so easy to focus on all the crap and responsibility we have as adults but my favorite part. Hmm. I would have to say having my husband is pretty great and the grown up relationship I have with my mom. They are two of my favorite people in the world and if I wasn't an adult it wouldn't be this way. There would be all sorts of drama instead.
What song brings a tear to your eye?
I have a few and for good and bad reasons.
- Carrie Underwood's "Just A Dream" (bawls everytime),
- Have you listened to this song? It is so sad.
- Sade's "By My Side",
- I walked down the aisle to this song... I cried then and I cry now.
- Ben Fold's "The Luckiest," and
- I fell in love with this song while I was falling in love with my husband. I just love the lyrics.
Here are the lyrics:
I don't get many things right the first time
In fact, I am told that a lot
Now I know all the wrong turns, the stumbles and falls
Brought me here
And where was I before the day
That I first saw your lovely face?
Now I see it everyday
And I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
What if I'd been born fifty years before you
In a house on a street where you lived?
Maybe I'd be outside as you passed on your bike
Would I know?
And in a wide sea of eyes
I see one pair that I recognize
And I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
I love you more than I have ever found a way to say to you
Next door there's an old man who lived to his nineties
And one day passed away in his sleep
And his wife; she stayed for a couple of days
And passed away
I'm sorry, I know that's a strange way to tell you that I know we belong
That I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
I don't get many things right the first time
In fact, I am told that a lot
Now I know all the wrong turns, the stumbles and falls
Brought me here
And where was I before the day
That I first saw your lovely face?
Now I see it everyday
And I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
What if I'd been born fifty years before you
In a house on a street where you lived?
Maybe I'd be outside as you passed on your bike
Would I know?
And in a wide sea of eyes
I see one pair that I recognize
And I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
I love you more than I have ever found a way to say to you
Next door there's an old man who lived to his nineties
And one day passed away in his sleep
And his wife; she stayed for a couple of days
And passed away
I'm sorry, I know that's a strange way to tell you that I know we belong
That I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
- Band of Horse's "No One's Gonna Love You"
- This was one of the first songs that played when Adam got home from his first deployment. It always reminds me about having him home safe in my arms.
I was 18 years old. We were going to California (Disneyland, Magic Mountain and museums in LA) for our senior trip. I had my two best friends on either side of me, Tasha was a seasoned flyer and Brandy was a flying virgin. Brandy started crying on takeoff and so did eye when I saw her tears. I loved flying after that. A month later the three of us were off to Hawaii by ourselves. That was back in the day (a Wednesday) when flying was fun and not such a pain with rude people who are in "customer service."

Great song choices! I had totally forgotten about The Luckiest--that always tugged at my heartsrtings, too.
