30 Days of Me - Day 05

Day Five is a favorite quote. 

I have picked two today because I wanted one from my favorite book... see yesterday's post... and then I have another that I use as my email signature.

First, the one from my favorite book.  I found this one while looking for another quote that I can't remember the exact wording to.  I couldn't find the one I was looking for and I found this one intriguing instead.  It is Peter Keating speaking and he is pretty much bitching about how the Protagonist, Howard Roark, is successful and will live on forever through his work but it can really apply to us all.

"You know how people long to be eternal. But they die with every day that passes. When you meet them, they’re not what you met last. In any given hour, they kill some part of themselves. They change, they deny, they contradict–and they call it growth. At the end there’s nothing left, nothing unrevered or unbetrayed; as if there had never been any entity, only a succession of adjectives fading in and out on an unformed mass."

The next quote is the one I use as my email signature and it from Dr. Seuss, Theodor S. Geisel.

"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

30 Days of Me - Day 04

Day Four is Favorite Book. 

My favorite book seems to be one that someone either loves or hates.  At one time I wanted to be an architect.  I had already given up this dream to pursue one of being an engineer (and an astronaut) and still loved architecture's beauty (There is just something about buildings that is awe inspiring) when I read this book.  I was about 20-21 years old and I loved reading about the cut throat Architects.  There was just something in the book that held me enraptured.  I really need to read it again and see if it still inspires the same feelings in me a decade later.  Anyway, without any further ado, my favorite book is The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand.
